ICFE supports plans for international travel
Fran Gu – China

Chinese ACCA student Fran Gu majored in finance and accounting at university, whilst also completing the ACCA qualification. She now works for a Fortune 500 American manufacturing company, where she is gaining the experience she needs to become an ACCA member.

Fran had already passed the TEM 8 exam (a test for students majoring in English), but decided to study for ICFE 'because both the University of Cambridge and ACCA are behind the qualification, and this ensures it provides a good benchmark against which to measure one's financial English ability'. To prepare for the exam, Fran took the sample test that could be downloaded from the British Council website. She also went through some exercises in relevant text books, especially those published by Cambridge University Press.

Fran knows that her new qualification will further enhance her ACCA credentials. 'Now that I have passed the ACCA examinations, I hope to specialise in internal audit. This particular field involves a lot of international travel, and it is clear that English skills will be very important in this context, given that English has become the international working language.’

'I also believe this qualification will be a valuable addition to my CV as, increasingly, employers assess potential candidates by examining the prestige of their qualifications, and they especially value international qualifications.'
