Becoming a global professional with ICFE
Celso Pinheiro – Brazil

Currently working as an auditor in Brazil, ACCA student Celso Pinheiro has set his sights on becoming a 'global professional'; 'and in my opinion' he says, 'to be a global professional you need qualifications that are widely recognised'.

Celso began his career by studying economics at university. 'I was always fascinated by stock markets', he explains, 'and six months after I began my university course I had the opportunity to join Ernst & Young as an external auditor. I took the post and four years later I moved to internal audit, where I still work today.'

Celso's reasons for taking the ICFE course are clear: 'It is often difficult to prove – especially in an interview – exactly how good your English skills are, and especially your ability to use English in a financial context; I therefore wanted an independent evaluation of my financial English skills. In addition, ACCA and Cambridge ESOL are already internationally renowned and respected institutions. By coming together they have made the ICFE qualification even more valuable.'

Celso has a Preliminary English Test certificate, which he gained in 1997. How did he find the ICFE course? 'I thought that the course content was very practical and up to date,' he comments, 'and also found that I was introduced to new vocabulary, especially in areas in which I haven't worked.'

Celso is sure that his new qualification will be of great help to his career. 'Qualifications, in general, always move you one step ahead - and I'm sure that a certificate issued by ACCA and ESOL will certainly enhance my career even more.'
